In Callidus news this week, a contributed piece by our own Lorna Heynike was published on DemandGen Report. The article notes that CRM systems rely on subjective data that is entered by the sales team. Managers can see how employees are really performance with a sales performance management which provides accurate, real-time performance data. FOXBusiness announced that we are presenting at CFO Magazine's 17th annual CFO Rising Conference.  PrudentCloud covered the topic of vendors feeling the heat to come up with their own version of SaaS application.  It was noted that Callidus Software have created an alternate line of SaaS products.

 

In EMEA news, Wall Street Journal announced that Dutch, British and Icelandic officials have been wrangling for nearly a year over a compensation deal in which the island nation would repay the U.K. and the Netherlands $5.3 billion for bailing out depositors in a failed Icelandic Internet bank, Icesave.  Wall Street Journal also covered the projection that Citigroup analysts are forecasting structurally lower compensation ratios.

 

In Industry news, All Business covered the current pattern that shows CRM is not doing its job in well over 50% of the companies it has been installed in.  BeyeNetwork covered the growing demand for SPM and mentioned a Gartner prediction stating that, “sales organizations will also make use of newer technology and solutions such as price optimization and sales performance management."   BeyeNetwork also covered how TARP restrictions may affect people at non TARP sales companies.  Tech Target covered Dennis Pombriant’s view that Salesforce is doing a good job of incorporating social media with its sales and services section.

Callidus exhibited at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona/Spain this week. During the conference, we announced that we signed a reseller agreement with Inycom, a leading Spanish IT provider. The announcement was picked up in various outlets, including TMCnet . Under the terms of the contract, Inycom will resell and implement our sales performance management services in Spain. GEN News also covered our partnership with Inycom and noted that the agreement further expands and strengthens our EMEA reseller network, which already extends to Greece, Romania, Bulgaria, Turkey, Africa, Poland and Israel. Great Ideas covered our partnership with Excel Technology Holdings Limited and highlighted that our award-wining solutions manage entire sales life-cycle from on-boarding to talent development, while maintaining transparency and visibility into sales operation and financial performance.

 

In EMEA news, Wall Street Journal announced that the Swedish government will propose that senior executives at Nordea AB forgo bonuses in a shakeup of the remuneration system at the Nordic region's largest bank. Times Online announced that BNP Paribas will pay its 4,000 bankers €500 million (£434.7 million) in bonuses after France’s biggest lender beat profit forecasts during the fourth quarter.

 

In industry news, FOXBusiness announced that ForceLogix Technologies partnered with Sales Integrity, which will continue the expansion of value added resellers.

In Callidus news this week, Birmingham Business Journal announced that we bought ActekSoft’s commission, incentive compensation and compliance software.  Leslie Stretch was quoted saying that, "the combination of Callidus and ActekSoft provides a level of operational excellence and industry knowledge that is currently unmatched by any of our competitors."  This announcement was also covered by CNN Money and San Francisco Business Times . Due to some false statements, Zacks re-issued their coverage on our recent partnership with Seven Seas Technologies.  Our partnership with HAND Enterprise Solutions was also mentioned and it was noted that this will expand our footprint in China’s market.

 

In EMEA news, Wall Street Journal announced that average bonuses for U.K. bankers rose 40% last year. It was reported that most industry professionals still received the bulk of their compensation in cash, according to a new survey that suggests the clampdown on remuneration in the country has had little impact on the level and structure of payouts.  Financial Times covered the exaggerated statement about the $100m payday for Lloyd Blankfein, Goldman’s chief executive, (he was actually awarded a relatively paltry $9m) to Royal Bank of Scotland’s tussle with the UK Treasury over the size of the state-owned bank’s bonus pool.

In Callidus news this week, Employee Benefits.co.uk covered Bill Schuh’s viewpoint about the banking crisis, stating that variable compensation motivates employees to achieve their objectives and support an organization’s targets.  CNN Money announced that we were named one of the "20 Coolest Cloud Productivity App Vendors" as part of the list of the "100 Coolest Cloud Computing Products" by Everything Channel's CRN. Leap Comp announced that we have closed 10 insurance incentive compensation deals, while CSSI closed 7 and ActekSoft closed 5.  It was projected that if we keep gaining customers during 2010, we will be regarded as the industry leader in the insurance incentive compensation space.  CNN Money announced that we were selected by Comodo Group to manage its commissions.  Under the agreement, Comodo will use our Force.com-based Commissions Manager to track and manage sales commissions for its direct sales force in North America.  RFP Connect also covered our business win with Comodo Group Inc.   Quote.com covered our agreement with Excel Technology Holdings Limited, which will extend our reach within the Asia market.

 

In EMEA news, Times Online announced that nothing is more popular than bonuses, but bonuses may not work in actuality.  Financial Times covered Deutsche Bank’s decision to set aside €225m ($314m) towards payment of a UK "supertax" on bankers' bonuses to spread the cost of the levy and avoid the bank's business being "destroyed" in Britain, if staff were not adequately rewarded.

 

In Industry news, Denver Business Journal announced that because of the recession, many businesses cut sales-support budgets in 2009 even as they raised sales quotas. It was no surprise that just over half of sales reps made their quotas last year, according to a new survey by Colorado sales research firm CSO Insights.  Destination CRM covered Gartner analysts’ predictions through 2010, stating that marketing budgets will remain flat in more than 90 percent of companies.

In Callidus news this week, Yahoo! Finance covered our partnership with Excel Technology, where Excel will resell, implement and support our sales performance management solutions in Asia.   The news of the partnership was also found on BusinessWeek and CNN Money.  In addition, TMCnet independently covered our partnership with Excel Technology and mentioned our recent business win with Home-Account.  CNN Money covered our fourth quarter financial earnings , also found on BusinessWeek, FOXBusines, and MarketWatch.   TradingMarkets.com also covered our projection of first quarter revenue, $16.5 million to $17.5 million.  Silicon Valley Wire covered our acquisition of ActekSoft, which gives us customers in over 140 countries.

 

In EMEA news, Wall Street Journal announced that Financial News revealed earlier this week that Bank of America Merrill Lynch and Citigroup were set to pay out bonuses that will include stock vesting in just a matter of months.  Wall Street Journal also announced that the IIF urged banks to exercise moderation in how they pay their bankers year-end bonuses and called for planned measures to reduce excessive risk-taking.


In Industry news, News-Medical.Net announced that Synygy Inc., and Health Market Science have partnered to market joint sales compensation and commercial analytics solutions for the healthcare industry.  TMCnet also announced that a pharmaceutical company is working with Synygy to automate and manage the sales goal management and sales compensation management processes for one of its U.S. divisions. Forbes.com announced that OpenSymmetry increased its client base by almost 75 percent and increased its revenue by 50 percent from 2008.

In Callidus news this week, Gartner covered our acquisition of ActekSoft with a very positive event note. The analysts applaud Callidus for consolidating its position in healthcare insurance. The acquisition emphasizes our strong position in insurance by gaining ActekSoft’s client base, product line and services expertise in healthcare commission processing issues, while ActekSoft gains needed support for its offerings.  Yahoo! News UK also covered the acquisition and mentioned that it extends our footprint with providing on-demand and on-premise sales lifecycle management solutions in the insurance and financial services industries. Individual.com covered Home-Account’s selection of our software's Force.com-based Commissions Manager.

 

In EMEA news, Wall Street Journal announced that The U.K. Treasury will hold discussions next Monday with officials from the International Monetary Fund, academics and other policy makers to discuss ways to reduce systemic bank failures.  In addition, MarketWatch announced that Goldman Sachs' London-based employees are likely to face a cap on their bonuses in response to the U.K. government's one-off tax on payouts.

 

In Industry news, Yahoo! Finance covered Synygy’s business win with a leading pharmaceutical company, helping the company to automate and manage the sales goal management and sales compensation management processes for one of its major U.S. divisions.  In addition, SandHill.com covered an interview with Taleo CEO Mike Gregoire, regarding business strategy.

In Callidus news this week , we announced our acquisition of ActekSof, where we will provide the most comprehensive offering of on-demand and on-premise sales lifecycle management solutions, found on MSN MoneySan Francisco Business Times, LeapComp, San Jose Business Journal, Property-Casualty and Tech Decisions also independently covered the acquisition.  MSN Money covered that Home-Account has selected Callidus Software to manage its commissions. Also, FOX Business covered Philips Healthcare’s selection of the Callidus Monaco's Objective Management solution, to develop and manage its salesforce.  In addition, Benzinga and TMCnet, independently covered our new business with Philips Healthcare.  Enterprise Irregulars speculated that upcoming Sales Comp, regarding Salesforce, could mean perusing either Callidus or Xactly.  IT Knowledge Exchange also announced that Salesforce is raising $500 million dollars and proceeds will be used toward acquisitions, Callidus was mentioned as a potential on-demand sales company prospect.

 

In EMEA news, J.P. Morgan & Chase Co said his firm expects to pay several hundred million dollars to meet a one-time, 50% tax on U.K. bank bonuses, according to Wall Street Journal. NPR announced that large, U.K. banks are pre-testing their main messages for bonus season, which starts in earnest next week.

 

In Industry news, IT Business Edge covered Salesforce.com's fund raising points to 2010 as the year of SaaS Acquisition.  DestinationCRM announced that despite the economic downturn, sales professionals are expected to not only help cross-sell and upsell existing clientele, but to bring in new accounts.  ZDNet announced that Salesforce.com’s move to raise $500 million in debt is enough to spark speculation about potential takeover targets.  Financial Times announced that Citigroup is going to cap cash bonuses for bankers at below $100,000.  In addition, Wall Street Journal announced that Major U.S. banks and securities firms are on pace to pay their people about $145 billion for 2009.

In Callidus news this week, we announced that Philips Healthcare has selected the Callidus Monaco's Objective Management solution to develop and manage its sales force, found on MSN Money. We announced that on January 28, 2010, we will be reporting our financial results for the fourth quarter and full year of 2009, found on Forbes.com. We also announced that our company is one of the latest SaaS providers, who have partnered with Ping Identity to provide clients with Single Sign-On access to their cloud-based sales tools, found on Yahoo! Finance. In addition, TMCnet independently covered our partnership with Ping Identity.  Learning Markets, covered our 10.25% gain in stocks.  FOX Business, reported on the positive rating that we received, by Gartner, in the latest MarketScope for Insurance Incentive Compensation Management Applications.

In EMEA news, the introduction of the Bank Payroll Tax, from last month’s Pre-Budget Report has hardened the resolve of many of the international investment banks operating in the city, according to Times Online. Daily Research News Online, announced that in 2009, the U.K. showed a heightened trend for integrating web analytics with other data sources, such as CRM software.

In Industry news, IT-Business.ca announced that the president of Varicent Software Inc. helped win $35 million in the third quarter. In addition, SearchCRM.com covered the predictions for 2010 and stated that CRM will evolve to become the customer management ecosystem and organizations should understand solutions that extend beyond “traditional CRM.”  Pharmaceutical Commerce reported that pharmaceutical companies, such as Veeva Systems, have had recent wins in adopting software-as-a-service CRM solutions. According to Seeking Alpha, in a Sandhill.com/McKinsey survey of over 850 enterprise customers at the end of 2008, 74% were already favorably disposed to adopting SaaS platforms, which shows more companies have an understanding of how to get the most out of their SaaS deployments.

In EMEA news, The UK government has confirmed that the new bank "supertax" will not apply to non-banking companies outside of banking groups, to the relief of insurance companies, asset managers, stockbrokers and other financial intermediaries, according to Tax.news.com . New York Times , announced that in an effort to stop employees from defecting, Lehman Brothers is hiring bankers and paying generous bonuses in London.

 

In Industry news, Ventana Research announced the winners of the 2009 Leadership Awards, recognizing those organizations that have most effectively delivered business success using people, process, information and technology best practices, found in Corporation News ArticlesAVING USA , announced that GoBiz Solutions entered into an agreement with Intuit Inc. to offer GoBiz XL, an integrated suite of Web-based applications that help manage front office operations.

In EMEA news, the Deutsche Bank will spread Britain’s controversial supertax on bankers’ bonuses, among its staff, around the world, according to The Globe and Mail. Wall Street Journal announced that the U.K. government's quantitative-easing program has created a super boom in one part of the financial-services sector, namely gilts trading in London.

 

In Industry news, IT-Analysis.com announced the top 10 SMB technology market predictions for 2010, with one of the predictions being that SaaS computing will lift off in new areas. In addition, CRM Buyer covered the top 10 cloud computing flashpoints of 2009. MarketWatch reported on year-end cash bonuses and how only 24% of companies will compensate their workers with a holiday bonus this year. On the All Business Blog, Paul McCord discussed how redefining the sales management’s role is inevitable.
